It advocates for increased financial transparency from charter schools, and a ban on for-profit charters that, according to AFT, often have unsatisfactory conditions for educators that impact their ability to teach well.
AFT praised Sanders’ proposal and regarded it as a move in the right direction for charter school accountability. According to the organization, 90 percent of parents in the United States choose public over charter schools for their children, and federal funding should be distributed accordingly.
